Arizona is called ‘The Grand Canyon State’, and rightly so. The Grand Canyon is one of the crown jewels in the American National Parks system, but there is so much more to do in Arizona than just the Grand Canyon. You could spend weeks in the state and not come close to exhausting the opportunities.
The canyons of waterways leading into the Grand Canyon offer many memorable landscapes. Mountains dot the landscape. Cinder cones and recent lava flows are volcanic remainders of past eruptions. Anasazi ruins offer glimpses to the past amid the varied deserts of Arizona, where varied cacti add beauty to the desolation. Forked Saguaro and organ pipe cactus tower over dense cholla and prickly pear with their orange and pink spring blossoms.
Below are pictures of some of the great places I have visited in Arizona.
