Palenque is one of the top Archeological sites in all of Mesoamerica. Located in an enticing mountainous jungle setting, it feels like an ancient Mayan ruin should feel. A dozen or so pyramid temples as well as the impressive Palace are arranged in a well planned city that is very well preserved. Most of the place is available for exploration and there is nothing quite so cool as climbing pyramid steps that were built nearly 1500 years ago.
